Pink Fun

Here are some progress photos.  Poor quality but when you are so eager to get the stuff finished you don't want to take the time to do nice shots. ^_^.  I am hoping this pad will work for Heather.  I'll take it to her in a day or so and see if it will fit her drop dead gorgeous parade tack.  I don't think I'll do another corona ever though lol.  Then there is this lovely natural colored halter in progress.  Hot pink and black knots.  The weird thing is I really like this piece although I'm not a big pink fan.  It will be for sale.

I'd love to start a customer photo gallery at some point, so if you show my work and win please forward the pictures :).

Road block

Know those nights you lay in bed trying to sleep but are just thinking about all sorts of artistic things to do next?  Yes, that was definitely me the other night.  So I have a thousand and one ideas in my head for another bridle.  I settled on one and now I am stuck at color choices for knots.  I don't want to do brown or black.  I know they match everything but I am wanting to use some brighter colors. I listed a suggestion post on BLAB so hopefully all my wonderful hobbyists will be able to settle my mind on something.  I plan on selling it anyway, so if you have something you may particularly be looking for go post :).  I'll be finishing up punching Heather's corona this week so the bridle will be taking a break anyway for several days.  I think I need to go surf some other blogs and see what I can come up with to start doing on my blog for fun.  Maybe a give away or such every so often?  Tutorials or step by step pictures for a piece would be great too.  *hmm*

Been a while...

I've been busy O_O.  I have an almost three year old and he keeps me a running. lol.  I finished the chocolate and mocha bridle I was working on and just sold it on MH$P. Congrats Danielle :).  Let it help NAN many for you.  I have to focus exclusively on a corona I was working on now so it will be ready for Heather's show.  Creating a cm corona had my brain freezing often...and I admire those other corona making tack makers.  I can only hope it turns out like the brain wants it too.  After that project I have some special tack I'll be making for Tiffany Purdy.  They of course will include PINK.  What exciting projects to look forward too.

In the real life I have a gorgeous half arabian mare named Angel.  I am looking for someone to ride or show her.  If you are in the Louisville, KY area and would be interested I'd love to hear from you.  Money isn't my concern really, she just needs another human friend to allow her talents to be used.  She's a flashy girl.

Got to get back to the family but I will post again soon.

Hmm..

Sorry it has been a while.  I have been busy busy on the bridle I was working on.  The romels took a ton of time to braid/knot.  Here are some pictures.  I knew when I seen Heather Moreton-Abounders work and Susan Youngs that they took spent a lot of time on them.  Now, I have a whole new type of appreciation for these miniature works.  I sat here and as the hours passed by I lost count.  But through all that time that I lost track of it was because tying these knots were the most relaxing and fun thing I could have done for myself. They are a great stress reliever.  These photos were courtesy of my husband, who also was awesome and started to built me a mini tack box.  Well, like his dad, he decided the box needed to be larger.  He had built me a tack box for my real horse that after he was done I could literally walk into it and stand there.  Bigger is better they say! I told my husband that he is going to have to fill up the 18 saddle racks he put there.  That I am TOTALLY ok with! lol. Plenty of bridle space too.  I finished the western show halter in pinks for Show for the Cure in IL 2013 but forgot to get a great picture so I will take some soon.  Ruth received her bridle that she said was just beautiful and my buyer in Canada just loved her show halter.  I am SO excited to be getting my work out there.  I want to thank everyone who follows my work also and lets their friends know about me.  It means a lot. I can not wait to see my pieces help the horses NAN.

Another Project

I am still trying to get used to keeping this updated and new information always on here so please bare with me :)  I finished my other bridle and am onto another idea in my head.  I had a Rio Rondo heart bit I needed to use, so that'll be this bridle. Here's what's started so far.  I actually have both buckles done on both sides, but I'll add a new picture tomorrow.  Offers being taken on the other bridle.  Currently at $125.00.

Knotting along...

Ok, getting there.  Only a rein to go!  I also want to replace my "silver" on the tips of my cheeks pieces with real silver, just put this on here to give you an idea.  Just have to get some ordered and mailed to me.  Was in a hurry to get this picture and I couldn't get my FANCY looking end knot with tassel to photo without becoming blurry on me.  So, after I finish the other rein I'll sneak and get the good camera (the hubby's lol) and photo it better.

Well, I'm down to reins and a chin strap.  Yippie.  Doubt I'll get to finish it up until next week due to work.  Here are some progress pictures.  Not the greatest because the sun is not out and I was hurrying :).

Whistle while you work...

Making progress!  These pictures are from earlier today.  Tonight I was on a roll.  I'll get some newer ones tomorrow for you wonderful folks.  The last picture is of a six bight turk that has interweave.  MY FIRST one interwoven.  I think it took me an hour just to get this one knot complete and my eyes were going blurry towards the end.  Had to stop for the night but I'll try working some more tomorrow.  I work all weekend (boo) so no family or mini tack project time after tomorrow.  Just a heads up for all you keeping tabs on the bridle.  That away you don't wonder why I fall off the face of the planet during the weekends. :)

Progress photos.

Here we go.  I am usually bad about getting "progress" photos due to just wanting to finishing a piece, but I'll get better at taking them so everyone can see.  I was wondering where this bit went and I found it in a pouch with this bridle partially started which was an exciting surprise.  I stayed up late last night working on it.  Got way more work to do on it of course.  I was thinking of putting reds it but then just decided to stick with black and white for this one.  That will allow it to match a bazillion different saddles out there.

So what next?

Here are a couple more photos of the halter and lead for sale.  I'm in love.  One day I will have a lot of show ponies and they will wear this gorgeous tack.  lol.  For now it is shared with all of you wonderful folks who can own them and show them for me.  So I am finished with this project and trying to think up something else to do. I will do more halters but I have a nekkid little lonestar walking on my shelf just waiting for me to attempt to make him some western gear.  I want to start it so bad then I walk over to him and am intimidated by how small he is.  I am certain it would turn out fine, but heavens, I am 25 and my eyes struggle with my knots sometimes in traditional scale.  :) Everything is so TINY in SM scale.  I applaud mini tack makers-Anna Kirby being a huge favorite of mine. Truly awesome little saddles.

Back from vacation and the first thing I do is finish this halter.  I redid some parts and here it is.  It is so cute.  Makes me want a ton of ISH's and a ton more halters!  This halter and lead is for sale.  E-mail if interested.  Or if you would like a custom one just let me know.

Braided tack!

Heather was super nice as usual and took some shots of my bridle and beast collar set.  Tons of knots on this set! :) I'll be in Florida for a week but once I get back more tack making.  I may take an ISH halter order if anyone would be interested.  Turks and silver on it of course. Just e-mail me if you are in need of a new LSQ halter lsqdesignsbyhart@gmail.com

Welcome to my blog!

I have never been a blogger, so bare with me. The talented Heather of Desert Night Creations persuaded me to get one going so my tack can become more known.  So here I am :)  I have always loved horses and tack in general but was astonished with the model horse world and how creative people were in the hobby. I discovered Susan Bensema Young's tack in high school, started tack making a little but stopped because of college.  As the years past I ran across many other wonderful tack makers who inspired me to start it up again.  Then I found out one artist that I drooled over her miniature work lived right down the road from me. How blessed I am!  So Heather has been guiding me along to making wonderful knots and such.  I also had the pleasure of meeting Susan briefly while she was in for Breyerfest and got to drool over a few of her miniature items.  The knots were so amazing.  I have been working on a halter for ISH using the turks I have learned how to do.  I love it. Here is a picture.  Cannot decide if I want to leave it as it or change it up. The choices are limitless.
